St. Edward’s University invites applications for appointment as a full time (9 month) Assistant Professor of Counseling to begin in August, 2013.
Responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with Assistant rank. Teaching is required during two semesters on a 9 month contract, with most classes taught evenings and some taught during the day. Course load will consist of four courses taught during each of the two semesters. Supervision of practicum, academic advising, service on university committees, and other responsibilities expected of contracted faculty are required.
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or Counselor Education with current licensure as a psychologist or professional counselor in the state of Texas or license eligible to become licensed within one year. Two to three years university teaching experience in counseling with excellent references and student evaluations required. Two to three years of post-doctoral professional counseling experience required. Formal training and experience in counselor supervision preferred. Candidate will possess the ability to teach general core courses comprising a Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program, as well as a broad range of theoretical approaches. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
Candidates should have taught coursework and supervised students at the master’s level in a college or university. Courses taught may include Counseling Theories, Counseling Skills, Human Growth and Development, other foundational required coursework, and supervision of practicum students.
