Assistant Professor in Environmental Health Science

The Department of Environmental Health Science (EHS), College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Science. The successful candidate will assume a key leadership role in the department's EHAC- accredited undergraduate program in Environmental Health, including serving as the coordinator of the undergraduate program, supervisor of undergraduate advisement (including some advisement duties), coordinator of the undergraduate internship program and teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in environmental health science. The EHS Department is composed of eleven faculty members and has approximately 90 undergraduate majors' and 40 masters' and doctoral students. Currently, the EHS Department offers one undergraduate degree (BS EH ), an undergraduate minor, three master's degrees (MS EH, MS Toxicology, Master of Public Health-EHS Concentration) and two PhD degrees (PhD in EHS and PhD in Toxicology).

Applicants for this tenure-track position should have an earned advanced degree (PhD, or other relevant doctoral degree) in environmental health science or a related scientific discipline. Applicants should have a minimum of four year’s experience teaching and advising undergraduate students. Preference will be given to applicants with administrative experience in directing an undergraduate degree program, including program and curriculum development, advisement, assessment, and developing and administering student internship and career development activities.

The position will be a nine month salaried at 80% Instruction: 10% Administration: 10% Service starting in August 2013. Courses to be taught at undergraduate level include: 3 3-credit hours classes/semester plus management of the internship and administration of the undergraduate program. The University of Georgia has a widely respected Center for Teaching and Learning for pedagogical enhancement that will be available for course development.
