Assistant Professor of German at the University of Oregon
The Department of German and Scandinavian at the University of Oregon invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in German literary and cultural studies beginning September 2013. We are primarily interested in a colleague who can help us build on our established strengths (modern German and Scandinavian literatures, intellectual and cultural history, Judaic studies, gender studies, visual culture, ethnic literatures, memory studies).
Applications in all periods from Reformation to Contemporary literature and thought are welcome. We seek a candidate with demonstrated commitment to innovative scholarship and teaching as well as a strong purchase on recent theoretical and methodological debates in his or her field(s). Significant interest in more than one subfield is desirable.
Responsibilities include sustained research productivity, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring graduate students, appropriate departmental and university service, and participating in interdisciplinary, cross-departmental initiatives. Ph.D. focusing on German literary/cultural studies or an overlapping field such as Comparative Literature, near-native fluency in German required. Successful defense of dissertation by December 31, 2012.
