Saint Joseph’s University Department of Health Services invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor. The candidate should possess a PhD or PhD© in Health Administration or an equivalent terminal degree in a closely related field with ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to maintain a creative research agenda. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in health administration, public health, or nonprofit management including the knowledge and command of regulatory domains pertaining to public health and/or health administration. Candidates whose professional experience and educational background complement the expertise and qualifications of current faculty members in the department will warrant strong consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The B.S. in Interdisciplinary Health Services (http://www.sju.edu/majors-programs/undergraduate/majors/interdisciplinary-health-services-major) is a major program designed for students who intend to pursue careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, speech therapy or health administration. The curriculum prepares students for positions in hospitals, health departments, health agencies, research facilities, schools, and industry. The candidate is expected to teach three courses per semester starting in Fall 2013. Possible courses are Global Healthcare, Health Administration, Healthcare Systems and Responsibilities, Health Policy and/or Epidemiology. Tenure-track faculty prepare course materials, teach assigned courses, report midterm and final grades, advise students, carry out a research agenda, and provide meaningful service to the department, college and university.

The M.S. in Health Administration (http://www.sju.edu/majors-programs/graduate-arts-sciences/masters/health-administration-ms) is structured primarily for health care professionals with considerable experience in the health delivery system who are interested in the management and administrative aspects of health organizations and the health system. The program offers a core curriculum focusing on population and status assessment, health policy, organization development, operations and information systems, legal principles, leadership and more.
