American Government and Urban Politics. The Department of Political Science at Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure track position starting in August 2014. Applicants must have concentrations in American government and urban politics, and they must have their Ph.D. or be able to demonstrate that they will hold that degree by August 1, 2014. The successful candidate will teach a five course load, including American politics, urban politics, and research methods, and will contribute to an interdisciplinary urban studies program. The ability to offer courses on one or more of the following additional topics would be welcomed: judicial politics, parties and interest groups, race and ethnic politics, or gender and politics. Classroom experience is highly desirable. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching and scholarship. Completed applications will include a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts, samples of written work, three letters of reference, a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, and relevant syllabi.
