POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor – Regenerative Medicine

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The appointment will be a nine-month, tenure-track position in the Animal and Dairy Science Department, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, The University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The appointment will be 75% research/25% teaching. We are seeking outstanding candidates in the field of regenerative medicine, a strategic priority of the institution. This successful candidate will have research training and interest in areas including but not limited to stem cell biology (e.g, genetics and epigenetics/epigenomics, tissue bioengineering, large animal models for degenerative diseases) as they apply to the broader fields of diabetes (islet cell biology/regeneration), musculoskeletal (cartilage and bone biology), neurologic (neuroregeneration), and cardiovascular (heart repair) diseases. We also encourage candidates utilizing interdisciplinary approaches relevant to human or animal diseases and injuries with expertise in regenerative diagnostics, therapeutics or animal models. Research faculty are expected to develop an extramurally funded research program and are encouraged to collaborate within the Department and the Regenerative Bioscience Center. Teaching responsibilities will include an undergraduate and graduate course in regenerative medicine which could include biotechnology, animal disease models, tissue bioengineering, stem cell biology, epigenetics, and genomics.

Q UAL IFICATIONS: Candidates should hold the PhD, DVM, DVM/PhD or equivalent degree and have a demonstrated record of relevant research accomplishments in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, large animal disease/injury models and/or genetics as evidenced by their training, publications and peer review funding. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues within the Department and University and at other universities and research institutions is essential.

SALARY: Salary commensurate with training and experience.
