The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position for the fall 2013 semester in statistics / industrial statistics at the assistant professor level.

The new hire is expected to contribute to the department's statistics programs through appropriate course development, research, and student advising and mentoring. The department is currently in the process of implementing a revised Ph.D. program in statistics, which will complement existing undergraduate and graduate degree programs in statistics, pure mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematics education.

This position is part of a faculty cluster in advanced manufacturing with a focus on energy devices and materials that is being developed within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Considerations will be given to candidates with research credentials and expertise in the general area of industrial statistics appropriate for contributing to the research effort of the cluster. This may include expertise in one or more areas such as engineering process control, advanced design of experiments, time series analysis, functional data analysis, predictive analytics and data mining, uncertainty quantification and data assimilation with a focus on industrial applications.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related area is required. Applicants who have demonstrated the ability to teach a variety of statistics courses will be preferred.
