The Systems and Mechanical Engineering Department at Southern Polytechnic State University, Marietta, Georgia ( www.spsu.edu ) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Systems Engineering at the assistant professor level (other ranks considered) to begin in August 2013.
The Systems Engineering Program offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Systems Engineering.
Southern Polytechnic State University, a member of the University System of Georgia, is a residential university with approximately 6,200 students pursuing bachelors and masters degrees in many of the nation’s fastest growing technology fields. The university, located one mile west of 1-75’s Exit 263, is just 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta. Southern Polytechnic is an EOE / ADA /AA Employer.
The ideal candidate should have an area of specialization in human factors, project management, system architecture, and simulation.
Candidates must demonstrate the potential for scholarly research and professional development. The applicant must have the ability to initiate research programs and a dedication to undergraduate and graduate teaching. All faculty are expected to contribute to the distance learning education effort. The program is particularly interested in applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: human factors, project management, system architecture, and simulation.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills
Preference will be given to those applicants who have appropriate teaching and research experience because teaching and research are mutually supportive activities at SPSU .
The candidate should be able to communicate effectively and have a demonstrated strong interest in teaching and developing classes and laboratories at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Candidates must have earned Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management or related fields by the time of appointment. Industrial experience and professional engineer (PE) licensure are desirable.
