Minimum Qualifications :
A Bachelor’s degree in biology, epidemiology, public health or a related field and one year of research experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge and experience in infectious disease epidemiology and/or hospital infection prevention and control (preferably CIC) and in conducting surveillance activities/research to reduce healthcare-associated infections in select settings and for targeted infections. Poficiency using MS Office applications and SAS to enter and analyze data. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to apply and adapt to various audiences and settings.
The incumbent will assist Project staff with coordinating enrollment of the NYS Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) long term care facility (LTCF) Collaborative participants; assisting with analyzing hospital-acquired infection(HAI) data reported through the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) or other means; validating the reporting of CDI and other HAIs, and assessing the relationship between infection rates, risk factors, infection prevention efforts, and outbreak detection; and assisting with HAI prevention projects and activities. The incumbent will also assist with ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the data reported and preparing statistical reports. Occasional travel to healthcare facilities to review patient records and validate lab reports may be required. Other related duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment :
Temporary, grant funded position through July 31, 2014 (anticipated).
Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
