Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach
Winter Coaching Opportunity
Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for an Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach for the 2012-2013 swimming and diving season. The season begins Monday, November 12th and concludes at the latest on Saturday, February 16th. Required pre-season coaches meetings begin on Monday, October 22.
The assistant swimming and diving coach, reporting to the head swimming and diving coach and the athletic director, will join an athletics program that includes 24 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The swimming and diving program includes one coed team at the Upper School (grades 9-12). The assistant swimming and diving coach is responsible for specific duties associated with that team as assigned by the head swimming and diving coach and/or athletic director. Specific responsibilities include:
Requirements and Qualifications
- Compliance with all Lakeside School , Metro League, and WIAA policies and procedures;
- Supervision and instruction of swimming and diving student-athletes during all team activities;
- Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel;
- Attendance at required swimming and diving program and interscholastic athletics program meetings;
- Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes; and
- Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.
Successful candidates must be 19 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, and be available for all practices (generally early mornings) and competitions (generally Friday afternoons) during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Experience coaching swimming at the high school or college level is preferred, but not required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR certification.
Compensation and Benefits
Lakeside School is committed to attracting and retaining outstanding coaches through a stipend schedule that compares favorably with those of peer schools and clubs both locally and nationwide. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition season. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development.
