Plans and implements classroom curriculum and educational programs for children based on the individual childs cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Manages behavior of students to create a safe physical and emotional classroom environment as well as motivating learning community in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.
High School Diploma or GED and CDA required, AA in Early Childhood Education preferred. Desire to work with children ages 2.5 to 5 years old; specialized training for dealing with that age group is a definite plus. Ability to lead class and provide loving, supportive and caring environment for children. Child supervision skills, capability to understand and follow safety procedures. Team player, able to interact comfortably with parents and staff of a multi-service agency. Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Mandarin or English/Cantonese a plus. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of working with young children, including walking up and down stairs, sitting on the floor, and lifting a child.
