The Assistant Coordinator for Tutoring Services for the Academic Advancement Center is involved in selection, supervision, and evaluation of students who serve as peer tutors, SI leaders and math/science center tutors. The person also helps to manage the web-based database systems available for tutoring referrals, SI leaders and the payroll system on Workforce.
The position provides academic advising to assigned undergraduate students, assists with orientation and retention programs and may teach one section of UC 1000 The College Experience or UC 1100 Learning Strategies
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or relevant discipline is required.
Experience in advising and/or teaching, preferably at the college level, is needed to deal effectively with students in individual and group situations.
Strong written and oral communication skills are needed to be an effective representative of the department to students, parents, faculty, and the general public.
Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds is required.
Experience working in an office setting that included customer/client services, data collection and reporting is required.
Master’s degree in student personnel, counseling, or a relevant discipline is preferred.
Prior experience with administration or program coordination, managing a web site and tutoring or classroom teaching experience is preferred.
