Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President and Executive Director of Residence directs the University Department of Residence, a comprehensive department encompassing both housing and dining operations. The Assistant Vice President is responsible for creating environments that support students’ academic success and personal growth while also serving as a vital partner to the Vice President for Student Affairs. The Assistant Vice President will represent the Vice President and his priorities and goals in the Vice President’s absence and will assist the Vice President in the oversight of the Division of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for all functions centered within student residence halls, University apartments, campus dining, including residential, retail and catering services and educational support programs. The Assistant Vice President provides direction and leadership in the planning of all immediate and long range fiscal, facility, and administrative policies for the total department including maintaining existing and effecting new student related systems, operations, and projects consistent with operational objectives. The successful candidate will have extensive experiences in the areas of budgets and fiscal planning and the delivery of high quality housing and/or dining services to student residents. This position oversees a leadership team of seven direct reports and a large full-time and student staff with a budget of $38.5 million.
Master’s degree in business, student personnel, higher education administration, or related field plus at least seven years of progressively significant supervisory experience required. Evidence of strong leadership, organizational and management skills including team-building, the ability to operate autonomously with exceptional skill in decision making, and the ability to work with a large diverse staff is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong commitment to quality service delivery are also required.
