Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics

POSITION: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Agribusiness
Full Time Tenure Track, 9-Month Appointment

AVAILABLE: January 3, 2014

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or equivalent terminal degree with a strong training in at least two of the areas identified in the job description below and an interest in developing a premier teaching and research program in agribusiness. Strong quantitative methods training and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Agribusiness industry experience is desirable.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will be a 40% teaching and 60% research split. The faculty member will be expected to develop and/or teach three agribusiness-related classes including two undergraduate-level courses, and to advise students in special projects and internships related to the Master’s in Agribusiness (MAB). He/she will be expected to bring strong analytical and quantitative skills to bear in his/her research and upper division and graduate teaching programs. The desired areas of teaching and research emphasis include but are not limited to domestic and international food and agribusiness marketing and management, food and fiber processing and distribution systems, agribusiness finance and investment, consumer demand analysis, value-added agriculture, and agricultural market structure and performance. Major responsi­bilities will include: (1) developing a nationally recognized research program focusing on major state, national and international agribusiness issues, (2) publishing research in top peer-reviewed agricultural economics, agribusiness and/or field-specific business journals, (3) developing a network of industry contacts and collaborations at the state and national levels to support the research and teaching, (4) attracting sufficient extramural funding to steadily support graduate students, (5) teaching assigned undergraduate and graduate courses, and (6) advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
