This position serves the Senior Vice Provost as a principal administrative staff assistant for academic affairs in the Provost’s Office. This position reports to the Senior Vice Provost and interacts with members of the university community, the general public and representatives of other institutions and agencies. These contacts range from provision of general information through transmittal of sensitive personnel or policy-related information. Job Duties: 1. (20%) Program approval process: Work with school/College contacts, the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning to coordinate Lawrence campus academic program approval process including working with academic programs to develop program proposals, shepherding proposals through approval process, and preparing proposals for submission to Kansas Board or Regents, and reporting to the Board of Regents when appropriate. Complete campus notification process when new programs are either under approval or attain final approval. Identify process improvements that are needed and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address and implement solutions. Work with OIRP to monitor programs; alert and assist units needing to complete program discontinuance process; manage and oversee discontinuance process and notification of discontinuance to Board of Regents, University Governance, and campus stakeholders. 2. (20%) Program review process: Work with school/College contacts, the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning to coordinate Lawrence campus academic program review process, ensuring that program review is in compliance with Board of Regents program review requirements, preparing reports, overseeing review process on campus, and reporting to the Board of Regents when appropriate. Identify process improvements that are needed and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address and implement solutions. 3. (10%) Reporting and research: Work with school/College contacts, the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, and other parties to coordinate other Lawrence campus reporting on academic affairs issues (including Regents Distinguished Professor report, Sustainability survey, data visualization, and other topics as needed). 4. (10%) Coordination of Academic Policy : Work with Policy Office to ensure accurate and appropriate academic policy. Maintain excellent records for academic misconduct campus-wide and respond to questions pertaining to academic misconduct from schools/College and departments. Review transfer credit appeals and invoke transfer appeal committee when needed. 5. (10%) Assessment of Student Learning : Coordinates with Center for Teaching Excellence and Office of Institutional Research and Planning to ensure assessment and data collection of student learning outcomes. Prepares reports for academic units, Board of Regents, and Higher Learning Commission on student learning. 6. (25%) Academic Catalog: Work with academic schools and departments, Marking Communication, and Information Technology to implement an online catalog solution; facilitate the annual academic catalog update cycle; support catalog and catalog users throughout the academic year; manage KU catalog email address. 7. (5%) Other duties as assigned . Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent experience
At least three years of progressively responsible professional experience in an institution of higher education, with at least two years of experience in the area of policy development or management
Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials
Experience collaborating with a wide range of diverse individuals and groups, as evidenced by work history.
Experience working with sensitive and confidential matters
Experience working independently and meeting multiple deadlines in a timely manner as evidenced by work history
Excellent attention to process and detail as demonstrated by work or academic history Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience with higher education and academic initiatives
Experience providing leadership in the area of policy development
Knowledge of and experience with University of Kansas academic program proposal and approval process

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Pay: This is a Non-Exempt (Hourly), Unclassified Professional Staff (UPS) position.
Benefits: If this position will be appointed at 50% or more it is benefits-eligible. Benefits-eligible employees are eligible for group health insurance coverage as well as other benefit programs, retirement and other insurance programs. Work Schedule: This position is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m to 5 p.m.
