ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT AND
Description: Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Development and Alumni Relations (Engineering) who will serve as constituent development officer to lead and coordinate the fundraising activities of the College of Engineering. The constituent development officer will manage an assignment of donor prospects, including alumni, engaging in personal cultivation and solicitation for the College. Travel and weekend work will be necessary to fulfill the tasks. The successful candidate will be a member of the University development staff and will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations and to the Dean of the College of Engineering. The candidate will work closely with faculty and staff to determine key College priorities including fundraising for College needs, department needs, student scholarships and future building needs.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required, with a minimum of three years' successful experience in professional fundraising or closely related field. Proven track record of successful experience in personal fundraising solicitations. Excellent writing, listening, and speaking skills are required, as well as strong organizational and time-management skills; computer competence, adaptability, and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Must be willing to travel extensively.
Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree is preferred. The successful candidate will possess proven leadership and organizational skills, experience with comprehensive campaigns, a strong record of success in raising significant major gifts; and the personal energy, enthusiasm and patience to develop a comprehensive development program that continually surpasses goals and overcomes obstacles. Higher education advancement (development or alumni), healthcare, or arts organization experience preferred.
Compensation: The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience; there is an excellent fringe benefits package.
