We are seeking a highly motivated associate analytical scientist who wants to play a critical role in accelerating Semprus’ work by supporting existing personnel in the testing and evaluation of novel surface chemistries/treatments. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with hands-on experience in chromatography including GC, GC/MS, and HPLC.
Semprus BioSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of Teleflex, is establishing a new platform for the way therapeutics, biomaterials, and medical devices combine to deliver the best patient care in the most cost effective manner. The company is a 2007 venture-backed, spin-out from the lab of drug delivery and biomaterials pioneer Professor Robert Langer of MIT. Semprus’ management team, including Dr. Langer and Dr. Scott Rocklage, a partner at 5AM Ventures and company Chairman, have strategically positioned the company to take advantage of the current shift occurring in the drug and medical device industry.
•Perform analysis and characterization of extractables, raw materials, and process intermediates using established chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.
•Assist in the development of methods to characterize small molecules and polymer properties, drug/polymer interactions and device stability.
•Effectively maintain, troubleshoot, and operate analytical instrumentations.
•Interface and collaborate with our chemistry, biology, and engineering teams in characterizing the performance of surface modifications.
•Interact with equipment suppliers and external analytical contract laboratories.
•Thoroughly document experiments and results in laboratory notebook and other documentations.
•Effectively communicate at both team meetings and companywide technology meetings.
•Work constructively within a dynamic project team environment to meet aggressive timelines in support of project goals.
•B.S. in analytical chemistry, chemistry, polymer science, or related scientific disciplines.
•Preferred 1-3 years industrial experience
•Previous experience with some or all of the following analytical techniques: GC, GC/MS, HPLC, HPLC/MS, FTIR, TGA, DSC, Raman, UV-Vis.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Working knowledge of polymer/small molecular chemistry will be viewed favorably.
