The Associate Compliance Officer will work directly with the University Compliance Officer with compliance initiatives, projects, inquiries, and committees to assure that New York University's Global Network University is in compliance with applicable global host country, international, and U.S. laws and University policies; assure that legal, regulatory, financial and other risks are properly assessed and appropriate control mechanisms are in place and monitored; review and publicize existing University policies and procedures; provide training and education regarding applicable laws, regulations and policies; develop and implement ongoing plans for communication of clear business ethical guidelines to the University community; conduct or assist with Office of Compliance & Risk Management investigations and otherwise monitor and oversee the University's efforts to fulfill its ethical, institutional and regulatory obligations throughout the Global Network University.

Qualifications/Required Education:
J.D. or international equivalent.

Preferred Education:

Required Experience:
5 years' relevant legal experience in a university, government agency, non-profit, corporate environment, or law office or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
Professional experience in the area of compliance or related are within an academic institution, large organization, or government agency. Experience in a complex regulatory environment. Experience working in a global or multicultural environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):
Well-developed understanding of federal, state and local
legislation, ability to read, interpret complex regulatory and
legal documents. and ability to communicate technical and
complex concepts. Ability to communicate technical and complex concepts. Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; ability to respond effectively to confidential inquiries or complaints; excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work collegially with diverse personnel. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
