The Associate Dean reports to the Campus Dean and has direct supervision of the following programs: English, Journalism, Literature and Speech. Responsibilities include class scheduling, classroom evaluation, and respond to student academic concerns. Coordinates activities consistent with the campus and colleges mission, strategic goals and objectives. Promotes and foster an innovative teaching and learning environment conducive to academic excellence. Supports and encourages the infusion of academic initiatives, including instructional technology, into the teaching and learning process. Performs budget management, faculty and staff supervision, and collaboration with employees and community. This position will be open until filled with an initial review date of March 10, 2013.
Master's degree required with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English, Journalism, Literature, or Speech.
Minimum of four years related experience required.
Experience supervising faculty, teaching experience, curriculum development experience, and two years Department Chair or similar experience required.
Must have the ability to manage a budget.
Detail oriented, strong leadership skills, conflict resolution skills, strong analytical skills, effective customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong time management skills are all required.
Required Computer Skills:
Secondary or Postsecondary work experience preferred.
Knowledge of MS Excel, and MS Access or similar application preferred.
