The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of Business, Trade and Industry and has direct supervision of the following: Post Secondary Adult Vocational Programs (PSAV) - Automotive Service Technology, Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning Technology, Cosmetology, Diesel Technology, Facial Specialist, Machining Technology, Nail Technician, Welding Technology, Green Building Trades and Photovoltaic System Design, Installation, Maintenance; Apprenticeship Programs in various Building Trades; Trade and Industry College Degree Programs - Aeronautical Science, Sustainable Construction Management, Industrial Management; Credit Certificate Programs − Sustainable Building Specialist, Drafting for Sustainable Construction; and Continuing Education/Customized Training for various Trade and Industry audiences. Promotes and fosters an innovative teaching and learning environment conducive to academic excellence. Coordinates activities consistent with the college's mission, strategic goals and objectives. Supports and encourages the infusion of academic initiatives, including instructional technology, into the teaching and learning process. Schedules classes, administers classroom evaluations, and responds to student academic concerns. Manages departmental budgets, supervises faculty and staff, collaborates with employees and the community. Represents and interfaces with the general community through business and industry representation, business partnership councils, public entities, not for profit agencies and organizations. Adheres to the Florida Department of Education for curriculum information, rules, regulations, and program accreditation agencies. Works with local school district for initiatives of partnership, collaboration, and
cooperation for Trade and Industry Programs. This position is open until filled with an initial review date of September 23, 2013.
Minimum of a Master's degree required.
Minimum of four years related experience required.
Secondary or Postsecondary educational experience, teaching experience and curriculum development experience required.
Experience supervising faculty to include two years department chair or similiar is required.
Must have the ability to manage a budget.
Detail oriented, effective customer service skills, strong leadership, strong time management skills, strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and conflict resolution skills are all required.
Required Computer Skills:
Doctorate degree strongly preferred.
