SUNY Empire State College’s Northeast Center seeks applications for an Associate Dean. The Associate Dean reports to and works with the Dean to provide leadership within a collaborative environment that values teamwork and shared governance. In collaboration with the Dean, the Associate Dean has responsibilities for academic quality, mentoring, professional development of academic personnel, academic assessment, academic support, student services and residency programs. Working as part of a peer group of Associate Deans, the incumbent engage in projects of college-wide significance, as well as fosters collaborative action with other areas of the college.

The Associate Dean supports student success through quality and innovation in teaching, mentoring, and learning, as well as faculty development, including the orientation of new faculty and the continuing development of mentoring, teaching, scholarship, and college and community service. The Associate Dean supports collaborative faculty work at both the college and center levels, including teaching through the Center for Distance Learning and the School for Graduate Studies, and college-wide residencies. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise and work with professional employees and support staff whose offices oversee academic review, prior learning assessment, academic support, student services, and residencies.

The Northeast Center of SUNY Empire State College serves approximately 1,400 students a year at 8 locations in Albany, Johnstown, Latham, Saratoga, Schenectady, Plattsburgh, Queensbury, and Troy. Students complete individually-designed degrees in liberal arts and professional fields. Empire State College faculty members play a unique role as mentors, advising students in degree design from first enrollment through graduation. Professional employee roles include supporting individualized degree planning through academic review, student services, academic support services, recruitment and outreach, and administrative support.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited US institution or equivalent non-US institutions; faculty experience, demonstrated capacity for leadership in teaching, academic quality, curricular diversity and cultural sensitivity; demonstrated capacity to supervise high-level professional staff and personnel, and excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who have academic administrative experience and who demonstrate knowledge of and experience with non-traditional learners, professional development of faculty, and leadership of innovative teaching and learning initiatives. Experience with prior learning assessment and blended learning are also preferred.

Special Information:

This position requires some travel and occasional evening and weekend hours.

Additional Information:
Rank/Salary: $90,000-$95,000, depending on qualifications.
