Job Summary:
Under the general supervision and direction of the Dean, the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies & Community Partnerships is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote high quality nursing and health related graduate programs in the school and develop viable, responsive partnerships with Bay Area clinical agencies, businesses, non-profit organizations.

The Associate Dean is responsible for all aspects of the graduate programs including, but not limited to: development and improvement of programs, marketing strategy and enrollment growth, oversight of strategies for recruiting, retention and career placement of students in these programs, outreach activities to the community to advance the development and focus of the School. Associate Deans in SONHP work closely with the Dean to ensure the delivery of a high quality, accredited, health professions programs.

As a member of the SONHP Leadership Team, the Associate Dean will participate in policy making, planning, implementation, the evaluation of the School’s activities and assist the Dean in ensuring that the University’s vision, mission and values are foundational elements in guiding decision making and action within the School.

Job Responsibilities:
Support the work of the Dean in the ongoing administration of the School by:

a.Promoting the continuous improvement of instructional programs and policies.

b.Providing leadership in graduate student advising, curriculum planning, development, evaluation and academic programming.

c.Coordinating with department chairs, academic faculty and other offices within the University to serve the purposes and objectives of programs.

d.Planning for and managing fiscal resources in the School.

e.Participating in the recruitment, orientation and evaluation of faculty.

f.Participating in the recruitment and orientation of students.

g.Coordinating the development of clinical and field placement sites for graduate student learning experiences.

h.Addressing needs of graduate students whose academic performance is deficient.

i.Participating in the development of faculty practice and service activities that involve the provision of professional nursing services (e.g., continuing education, consultation, demonstration projects, direct patient care services in an advanced practice role).

j.Collaborating with faculty in integrating teaching, practice, and scholarship and insuring equitable and reasonable faculty workloads.

k.Monitoring and revising, as necessary, bulletins, class schedules, and other program information.

l.Discharging the duties of the dean in her absence as delegated.

m.Representing the university at regional, national, and global levels

Minimum Qualifications:Qualifications:
A.Earned doctorate with credentials appropriate to appointment on nursing faculty. Must have a RN or higher degree in nursing.

B.Successful teaching experience and administrative experience.

C.A visionary leader able to implement innovative ideas

D.Demonstrated ability in working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students

E.Experience in curricular development and evaluation

F.Experience in the administration of outreach and clinical service projects and programs including budgetary and planning responsibilities.

G.Strong communication, negotiation, and contract management skills.
