BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION: Stetson University invites applicants and nominations for a full-time, 12-month faculty position that will include an appointment as the associate dean of Graduate Business Programs for the School of Business Administration, Tampa Law Center campus. Reporting to the dean of the School of Business Administration, the successful candidate will play a key role in the graduate level academic mission of the school. Candidates must have strong academic credentials and relevant administrative experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in business-related discipline, expertise in entrepreneurship preferred; a teaching and publication record that supports appointment as an associate or full professor; and three years of relevant administrative experience as a department chair, associate dean, MBA program director or equivalent. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills; ability to create and manage corporate and university partnerships; strong written and verbal communication skills; professional staff supervision experience; budget management experience; strong customer service orientation; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds; and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. It will be particularly important for the associate dean to foster strong partnerships with the business community and to provide outstanding leadership for Graduate Business Programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The associate dean provides strong leadership for existing and new business degree programs and is deeply involved in building a climate of excellence in the college.
Specific responsibilities will be managing all graduate business programs including the Professional MBA on the DeLand and Celebration campuses, Executive MBA at the Celebration campus, JD/MBA at Stetson’s Gulfport campus, Master of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy Online, Pharma/MBA joint degree program with the University of Florida online, and any new graduate business programs as they are added.
Contribute to the continuing success of the school by keeping graduate programs well positioned as a part of the overall school portfolio. This includes developing and maintaining a distinct brand for the programs, and working with University Marketing on appropriate audiences.
To assist in designing global initiatives and partnerships ensuring a high quality of education for the Stetson graduate business students and enhance the Stetson name abroad.
Coordinate the development of new programs and the modification of existing programs, in conjunction with the Graduate Curriculum Committee, participate in curriculum development efforts when programs are being evaluated and reformed.
Work with University Enrollment Management to ensure a robust recruitment campaign.
Develop partnerships with corporations both academically and strategically.
Evaluate proposals for domestic and foreign cooperative programs, finalize acceptable programs, obtain required approval and oversee implementation.
Teach two courses per year.
Maintain a schedule of classes for each graduate program, offering a balance of required and elective courses and coordinate with department chairs (and consult with faculty) on the staffing of specific courses, at least two terms in advance.
Oversee all functions, services, and information systems related to admitting, matriculating, advising, scheduling, retaining and graduating students in all graduate programs.
Implement programs and directives benefiting graduate students and their faculty including overseeing the writing of accreditation reports.
Maintain budget responsibility, ensuring the economic viability of programs (especially international programs).
Maintain AACSB accreditation standards for graduate programs, including program planning, curriculum development, faculty qualifications, student quality and assessment programs.
