Position Overview The Associate Director, Communications Planning facilitates the development of a holistic view of clients ’ business, market, and consumer context to inform innovative communications solutions to business and marketing problems. Reporting to SVP, Experience Planning, this position works with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation and apply communications planning best practices focused on uncovering deep and actionable insights at the intersection of technology, media, and culture. The ideal candidate should have an adept grasp of creating strategic, direct-response oriented communications plans for traditional channels (print, direct mail, DRTV) as well as digital channels namely social (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) with exposure to mobile a plus. As Associate Director, Communications Planning the candidate should also be able to lead senior and junior planners as well as to develop productive relationships with colleagues in Data Analytics, Data Solutions, and the Creative department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) • Works with counterparts across S"E and Creative throughout the entire solutions development process (from beginning to end) to drive solution ’s roadmap and any other elements of the communications program that are essential to the successful implementation, measurement, and optimization. All while aiming at permeating popular culture as the key objective of any major communications initiative. • Help to contribute to organic growth via significant involvement in greenhouse plans with Group Account Directors and Account Directors • Provides for the recruitment, retention, and development of direct reports • Supervises the assessment and improvement of direct reports • Partners with the account service counterpart to develop marketing and communication strategies that are fueled by technology, media, and culture insight • Collaborates with the Experience analytics group to identify target behaviors and understand motivational drivers of behavior that will result in more effective communication strategies • Work with client service and analytic leads to crystallize for clients the return on investment of our communications and interrogates the results for insight that will increase the effectiveness of each new generation of work Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-essential Job Functions) • Develops POVs based on current client work and key trends surrounding technology, media, and culture • Engages in public speaking forums regarding cutting-edge planning initiatives • Ensures the continuity of ongoing informal and formal forums to facilitate idea generation Requirements (KSAs ’s) • Bachelor ’s Degree required. • Minimum 5 years experience in direct marketing/advertising/digital marketing, eclectic background in other communications areas a plus Other Skills/Abilities • Sound understanding of cultural criticism methods • Fluent in market research techniques both quantitative (Simmons, Mintel, Forrester Technographics, Nielsen) and qualitative (IDIs, focus groups) as well as new methodologies that combine both approaches Reports To SVP, Experience Planning Supervises Junior/Senior Communications Planners, and Communications Planning Coordinators NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
