The Ethicon Surgical Care business, a part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is recruiting for an Associate Director, Competitive Insights located in Cincinnati OH.
Position is responsible for managing activities associated with a Competitive Insights Team in support of the Global Surgery Group. Position will serve as a key representative on multiple business unit teams. Role will manage practices and process for analyzing competitive insights and macro environment trends. The role will require a high degree of business acumen and understanding, and must be able to manage and collaborate with others support for learning and insight needs across the business. Other key stakeholders include other Global Business Insights Business Unit teams, Position will have responsibility for managing all projects and activities required to drive success for the business and function. Other key stakeholders include Business Unit Marketing Organizations J&J Investor Relations, New Business Development and Finance organizations.
The Global Surgery Group presents approximately $11 billion in WW sales. The business is expected to experience solid growth over the next 5 to 7 years. The Group contains key surgical platforms such as Wound Closure, Hernia Repair, Women's Health and Urology, Minimally Invasive, Obesity, Energy, Biosurgery, Aesthetics, ENT, and Cardiovascular surgical products.
Responsibilities include: Lead and manage multiple activities for competitive intelligence and macro trends and Information Technology (including but not limited to investment community reporting, competitive activity, primary competitive intelligence and external environment knowledge management). Proven track record of performance that demonstrates strong leadership. Foster and manage strategic Competitive Insights capability among several business unit teams. Partner through governance process with multiple Global Surgery Centers of Excellence. Implement and maintain external strategic partnerships for data analysis and systems. Demonstrate an ability to influence multiple stakeholders to ensure a high-level of team involvement in key business discussions. This role will lead direct reports in flawless execution of all projects and activities and required to drive success of the business. Proactively providing fact based analytics programs to address strategic business needs. Developing and implementing new innovative business analytics tools and techniques and processes and implementing these across the Global Surgery Team. Ensure that new products and programs are customer-centric and set up for high impact. Serve as objective steward of the business.
A BS or BA in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics, or related field is required. MBA or MS is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of progressive business experience is required. Experience in one or more of the following areas are required: Business/finance acumen, new product pipelining, mergers/acquisitions, competitive strategy, scenario planning, marketing, and analytics. Competitive Intelligence experience in the healthcare industry is preferred. Experience in the medical device, hospital specialty, or healthcare field is preferred. Proven track record of managing in a matrix environment where a high degree of collaboration is needed. Direct people management experience is required. Experience managing people is preferred. Excellent proven leadership, collaboration, communication and analytical skills are required. Ability to work in cross-functional teams, sometimes requiring managing and leading without authority as needed. Demonstrated strong business acumen is required. Ability to understand, translate and integrate multiple data sources into actionable insights to drive decision-making is required. Working knowledge of industry competitive insights tools and techniques are required. Knowledge of secondary data, competitive intelligence data, and strategic forecasting is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and team partnership is required. Ability to manage outside partnerships to create a strategic sourcing model is required. Due to the nature of information reviewed in the role, candidate must demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required. Strong project management skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft WORD; advanced EXCEL, and PowerPoint skills are required. Basic knowledge of analytical tools (e.g. SPSS or SAS) preferred.
