Reporting to the Finance division Executive Director HR, Training, and Change Management, the Associate Director serves as an internal consultant and principal liaison for all Human Resources related functions for the Finance division (EVP, Procurement, Internal Audit, Treasury, Controller, Budget, Investments, Finance Service Management), a $21.5 million operation with 200+ FTE's, to help drive change in culture to a high-performance, customer focused environment with personal accountability. Supports the initiatives and goals of the Finance Division by proposing strategic direction for the Human Resources team and establishing/executing on fiscal year goals.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Management of recruitment process: development of recruitment strategies to address unit talent needs and improve bench strength of the division as a whole; development of proactive talent pool to draw compatible job seekers from; development of new ways to market position openings so that recruitment efforts extend beyond the usual grounds for sourcing talent; create and manage position vacancies using the University's applicant tracking system; conduct regular interviews with all referrals, regardless of current openings, to build the talent pool; conduct interviews and develop a short list for hiring managers and other key stakeholders; evaluate, review and discuss candidate qualifications with hiring managers; conduct reference checks and manage package developments and offer / rejection letters; work closely with the Executive Director and external firms on executive searches, including organization of and communication with search committees, when appropriate; work closely with hiring managers and CUHR on position development, intensive recruitment searches and approvals; develop and enhance a fully-supported on-boarding experience for new employees to ensure successful assimilation into positions and to the University culture; meet regularly with Finance division staff to discuss career interests and ensure a strong knowledge base of existing internal talent for promotional and other developmental opportunities; work closely with the rest of the HR / Training team on possible training and development needs as a result of discussions with staff about their career aspirations; develop and manage the voluntary exit interview process for all employees leaving the Finance division (resignations, transfers), share feedback in an appropriate manner with managers, and use the information gleaned to address issues and improve the work environment for existing and new employees. Provide leadership through the Performance Appraisal process: develop communication, partner with managers and employees to draft reviews, coach managers on delivering feedback, track receipt of reviews to ensure divisional compliance with University practice.work closely with organized staff, management and Labor Relations on all labor-management and health and safety issues; manage investigatory, disciplinary and grievance procedures for non-exempt and exempt employees; interpret and advise managers and union employees on collective bargaining agreement contracts; counsel managers on employee relations and performance management issues, collaborate with managers to develop improvement plans and manage involuntary exit process as necessary.conduct staff counseling as it relates to University policies and procedures, benefits and personal matters and partner with Central HR, Office of General Counsel, and Benefits and Disability teams as required. Monitor and approve payroll for support staff within Finance; responsible for approving various HR and payroll transactions for the division; perform other related duties and specific projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Bachelor's degree plus at least five years progressive experience in a Human Resources environment required.

In addition, must be detail-oriented, with excellent communication, listening, interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required. The successful candidate must have the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times, possess a high level of professionalism, be customer service driven and flexible in attitude.In addition, must be capable of working independently with little supervision, as well as serve as a productive team member. Must be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments. The successful candidate must have sound judgment, with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation, and be a strong role model and coach. Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience within a not-for-profit organization preferred. Experience in a unionized environment preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred. Budget or financial experience a plus.
