Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications for the 12-month staff position of Associate Director in the Division of Innovative Learning and Academic Support Services (ILASS). ILASS is a newly created division which combines learning related services to promote creative approaches to support learning and academic excellence. Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Writing Center including recruitment, training, and supervision of tutors; development of training materials; scheduling; program assessment; maintenance of content on AskOnline, Blackboard, SharePoint, and ILASS website. The Associate Director will network with faculty to provide appropriate co-curricular support services, while providing outreach regarding available services to current and new students on the Albany and Vermont campuses. This position will also play an integral role in the planning, development and support of English as a Second Language (ESL) programming and services.
Masters degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Education or related writing intensive discipline is required; doctorate preferred. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have experience in writing pedagogy and/or coordination of academic tutoring in a higher education setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook is required; familiarity with AskOnline, Blackboard and/or SharePoint is preferred. Qualified candidates will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Candidates must be passionate about promoting student success and building viable tutoring programs.
