The Associate Director ensures professional management of departmental resources, fiscal initiatives, and customer service functions, while effectively achieving accountability and service standards. This position's primary responsibility is to provide high quality administrative planning and management principles; ability to analyze data and forecast service and program needs; ability to define and contribute to departmental improvements and program efficiencies; demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, manage, supervise, and integrate financial program activities to develop and accomplish department goals. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of financial systems and practices to include the areas of budgetary analysis, planning, development, execution, and monitoring. Exhibits technical proficiency with budget oversight and demonstrates excellent leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding fiscal planning, auditing principles and techniques, financial risk identification, customer service program needs, marketing concepts and communication practices, and contract administration standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business/public administration, or related discipline, or equivalent in education and experience. Considerable business or financial management experience, preferably in the public sector and preferably in a higher education setting; experience in budget preparation and development of management level financial reports to track budget execution; experience in establishing financial accountability processes, internal controls, customer service orientated initiatives, providing marketing oversight, and exercising sound judgment capabilities for executing high impact decisions; experience with federal and state procurement policies and regulations, and operating systems such as Banner and eVA; experience establishing and implementing organizational directives; supervisory and customer service relations experience in a diverse, high volume service organization preferred. Considerable knowledge of organizational functions related to administrative planning and management principles; ability to analyze data and forecast service and program needs; ability to define and contribute to departmental improvements and program efficiencies; demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, manage, supervise, and integrate financial program activities to develop and accomplish department goals. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of financial systems and practices to include the areas of budgetary analysis, planning, development, execution, and monitoring. Exhibits technical proficiency with budget oversight and demonstrates excellent leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding fiscal planning, auditing principles and techniques, financial risk identification, customer service program needs, marketing concepts and communication practices, and contract administration standards. Ability to analyze, interpret, and prepare budgets and financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and compliance standards; considerable working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, and procurement procedures; working knowledge of Banner or other financial management systems; ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures. Working knowledge of computer applications, excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Database, etc.; demonstrated ability to effectively organize, lead, and control diverse units and contribute to cohesive service teams; excellent oral and written communication skills, personnel management skills, accounting, fiscal management and budgeting skills; ability to work in a fast paced environment and deal effectively with department heads, senior officials, corporate managers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public utilizing exceptional customer service skills.
