Under supervision of the Director of Grants & Contracts, the Associate Director of Grants and Contracts will have primary responsibility for conducting grant prospect research and writing and preparing grant proposals to local, city, county, state and federal government funders, as well as private foundations, corporate
foundations and giving programs to support of CHMC and its various programs and services. Additionally this position will assist in preparing Major Gift proposals. The Associate Director will have secondary responsibility to assure
program compliance with relevant private, city, county, state and federal requirements, regulations and policies. This position will be responsible for sustaining and growing grant support that currently amounts to over $10 million
annually and 75% of the Foundation's contribution revenue. The Associate Director will perform the functions of the Director of Grants and Contracts in the absence of the Director including supervisory and committee assignment functions.
At least two years of verifiable experience in grant prospect research, grantwriting, and grant proposal submission. Experience in writing federal grants to the US Department of Health and Human Services. Experience writing proposals to provide foundations as well as corporate foundations and corporate giving programs. Experience writing grants to local governmental agencies. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, preferably in social science, journalism, organizational development, or public administration.
The candidate should have completed, or will be required to complete, a comprehensive grantsmanship training course (e.g., week-long Grantsmanship Training Program offered by The Grantsmanship Center or equivalent) as well as
attend an In-Depth Review of Head Start Fiscal & Administrative Requirements presented by an approved vendor.
