Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Director for Institutional Advancement/Director of Development, College of Business. Working in cooperation with the Dean of the College of Business, the Director of Development will develop, oversee and coordinate the fundraising plans of the College, with responsibility for identifying, qualifying and sustaining a donor prospect pipeline and portfolio while concentrating on the development of major and principal gift prospects. The Director will be a member of the Institutional Advancement staff and report jointly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement/Executive Director of Development, SIU Foundation and the Dean of the College of Business.

A bachelor's degree is required for this position; a master's degree is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years experience in institutional advancement or a related field and a specialized knowledge in an advancement-related field are also required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will have proven ability to work with volunteers and not-for-profit organizations. Evidence of successful mid-management experience is desirable. A broad knowledge of fundraising concepts and strategies necessary to cultivate and secure significant annual and major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations is preferred.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale, located in scenic southern Illinois approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis, is a comprehensive university with schools of medicine and law and has Carnegie Foundation Doctoral/Research University-Extensive status.

Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience; there is an excellent fringe benefits package.
