Fifty percent tenure or non-tenured faculty member of the School of Medicine. This position Instructs and trains Medical students attending KUSoM-Salina in the art and science of taking patient histories and performing physical exams in the Clinical Skills Lab (CSL), and administers all other needs associated with the CSL for the Salina campus of KU School of Medicine. The person in this position reports directly to the Director of KUSoM-Salina.

Required Qualifications
Board eligible or certified physician with an active Kansas license and a minimum of five years of clinical experience post-GME.
Previous experience teaching residents or medical students.
Continued part-time clinical practice in the region.
Familiar with all CSL activities and curriculum for students in all 4 years of medical school.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse population in group or one on one settings.

Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with the Salina medical community.
Familiar with all KUSoM-Salina CSL activities and curriculum for students in all 4 years of medical school.

Assist Salina medical students in developing clinical skills competency through experiences in the Clinical Skills Lab. The major role of the Medical Director of the CSL is teaching and providing experiences for medical students to learn the art and science of interviewing patients and performing physical exams. The Medical Director of the CSL will also assist students in improving their communication, critical thinking and decision making/problem solving skills. Finally, the Medical Director must introduce to the students the importance of the ability to work with diverse populations.

Provide feedback to students on all CSL events and identify/remediate students with clinical skill deficits. Recruit, train, supervise, and collaborate with physician preceptors for CSL event participation and remediation of students.

Collaborate and coordinate CSL activities in Salina with those on the Kansas City campus. Schedule and communicate all required CSL events on the Salina campus.
