Wheelock College is seeking outstanding candidates for the role of Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions. Reporting to the Senior Director of Undergraduate Admissions, this person will be primarily responsible for working collaboratively with the Senior Director to provide leadership and management of the College’s undergraduate student recruitment strategy including, but not limited to, territory management, funnel development (including proposing and monitoring targets and goals); targeted inquiry management, regular data analysis and reporting; and recruitment travel for all staff.

The Associate Director will serve as an operational manager for day to day recruitment efforts in the office including oversight of campus events, data management and distribution, and overall project management. This person will also assist with office operations including providing support for the application and data input systems and the overall communications flow.

The Associate Director will directly supervise a team of admissions counselors. He or she will also hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff to ensure professional growth and the appropriate capacity for the College’s undergraduate recruitment and enrollment efforts. The successful candidate will develop and provide oversight for a robust professional development program for staff.

The Associate Director will also participate broadly in the general operation of the office including reading files, interviewing students and representing the College in visits to secondary schools, community colleges, college fairs, and all on-campus admissions events. Responsibilities also include planning and executing a minimum of eight weeks of fall and spring travel for recruitment and maintaining extensive contact with students, parents and guidance counselors. The Associate Director will also coordinate and oversee recruitment events as needed.

Requirements:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree is preferred. Qualified candidates will have four to five years of progressive admissions experience as well as supervisory experience and demonstrated excellence in leadership.

This person must have great enthusiasm and positive attitude; be comfortable with new technology; be a creative and innovative thinker, and have a solution-oriented disposition. The ability to analyze and improve work-flow process as well as to think strategically about future needs is critical to this position. Experience managing operational processes in a higher education setting or similar environment as well as experience with program development event planning and management is preferred.

Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and display strong attention to detail and demonstrate organizational skills related to project management. The candidate must have also display a proven commitment to diversity and ability and an appreciation for working with diverse populations. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to work some nights and weekends.
