Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc. is dedicated to extending innovative Canon core technologies into the burgeoning life sciences field - and to the introduction and marketing of vital, new-platform products in the critical area of molecular diagnostics.

Canon U.S. Life Sciences is currently seeking an Associate Engineer/ Mechanical Engineer to design prototype in vitro diagnostic devises. The Associate Engineer will use SOLIDWORKS Cad and MS Office applications to analyze, design, program, debug, and modify electro-mechanical subassemblies and systems. The Associate Engineer will write requirements for installation and maintenance as well as write technical reports and memos that enable technology transfer to strategic partners.Create electro-mechanical designs independently with direction from senior technical staff.Draft or add detail to requirements and specifications for system module, prototypes, and products.Work with outside fabricators to produce prototype parts.Work with the larger technical team to support systems integration activities.Independently test sub-systems, prototype systems, and equipment.Complete date analysis with some guidance.May provide support in corporate research and development of patent applications.Education Requirement: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Experience Requirement: 0-3 years experience in engineering design and/or testing.Experience with SOLIDWORKS CAD in the design of machined and sheet metal parts, assemblies and drawings.Experience in designing small complex parts involving many manufacturing processes including injection molding, SLA prototyping, metal forming, and stamping. Familiarity with nano-fabrication methods a plus.Experience and familiarity designing using electrical components (stepper motors, solenoids, sensors), pneumatic components (air cylinders), and optical components (cameras, lenses) a plus.Familiarity with MatLab and LabView a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to others in different functions at various levels.Demonstrated ability to approach problems with enthusiasm and creativity and to change focus when necessary.
