DESCRIPTION

The mission of this position is to identify, test and implement product development and improvement ideas.

DUTIES

  • Create layouts in three-dimensional solids. Review layout options with team and makes recommendation on preferred direction
  • Utilize supplier database geometry for standard purchased parts. Work with suppliers to co-develop long lead tooled part designs and select components to assure optimized system cost while minimizing tooling lead times.
  • Develop detailed 2D part and assembly drawings from 3D unit model
  • Maintain layouts current as drawings are completed
  • Construct parts as needed for prototypes. Assists in all builds including prototypes, pilot and initial production.
  • Maintain, audit and correct bills of materials
  • Assure the use of standard parts when developing design
  • Prepare test plans to prove design concepts. Test unit performance per standard procedure and test plan and publishes report.
  • Complete release documentation
  • Manage projects that either improve a product or modify a product to meet a specific customer need
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • BS Engineering degree or related scientific degree with an emphasis in mechanical engineering or mechanical design
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 or more years relevant engineering experience
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Design and fabricate life test fixtures
  • Follow standards for design and drawings; ability to verify own work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage small projects
  • Strong mechancial aptitude
  • Must be able to maneuver ice machines for testing and weigh ice samples up to 50 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Helpful, but not required):
  • FEA experience
  • Agency experience (UL, CE, NSF)
