Technology Services is seeking an Associate IT Systems Administrator to join our Server Operations Team ! This person will work closely with a team of 10 System Administrators as well as directly with clients, vendors, and other technology-based groups within Technology Services and throughout the City and County of Denver.
As an Associate member of the IT team , this position will be responsible for implementing and supporting systems across the various City and County of Denver Agencies, including Mayor and City Council offices as well as the Department of Safety, which include our First Responders The environment is heterogeneous and consists of Windows, Linux, VM Ware, Sun and SAN technologies . This Associate level position will work directly with other members of the IT and Operations teams on long-term projects and production systems . Exhibiting strong customer service while resolving technical issues is a must have skill.

Performs routine to complex setup, installation, and configuration of the operating system (including hardware and software), new software releases, and upgrades.
Creates and manages user directories and files on the server platforms.
Monitors, tunes, diagnoses, and resolves routine to complex operating system, application, and database problems.
Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs routine to complex problems with hardware, operating systems, security, and data protection.
Performs backup and recovery operations and assists with capacity planning for a specific data system.
Develops, tests, and implements routine to complex scripts to automate common functions or system operations.
Consults with users to identify existing system problems then evaluates and recommends various software and hardware solutions to meet user needs.
Develops, maintains, and publishes routine to complex custom reports.
Consults with users to identify new business requirements then evaluates and recommends software and/or hardware solutions to meet user needs.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Experience: (Must be documented in Work History/Resume)
Two years of current professional Information Technology experience maintaining, implementing, and modifying information technology systems or work processing operations including system hardware and software. Experience must include the following Special Qualifications (SQs):
* Minimum of two (2) years of current experience providing server side network/systems support within a Windows Server 2008 OS environment.
* Minimum of two (2) years of current experience utilizing Microsoft Active Directory.
* Must have DFS and Share permissions experience (Candidates must be able to demonstrate in interview )
* Minimum of two (2) years of current experience within a VMware environment.
* Minimum of two (2) years of current experience with Internet Information Services (IIS).
* Minimum of one (1) year of Linux systems administration.
Required Education: (Must be documented in Work History/application)
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a directly related field.
Additional appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement on a one year for one year basis (one year experience = one year education). There are no equivalencies for the Special Qualifications.
