This is a full-time nine-month teaching position available for one academic year. The appointment is effective August 16, 2013, and will include a benefit package.
Teach all aspects of machining including usage of conventional lathes and mills, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, inspection procedures, blueprint reading, CNC machine tool setup and operation, G-code programming by hand, and off-line programming with CAM package. Involves classroom and laboratory instruction.
Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, machinist journeyman certificate, and ten years of experience in the machining field. Must have an understanding of common threads, tools, speeds and feeds, work-holding and shop practices. Competency in shop math including trigonometry and application of machine shop formulas is a must. Ability to use instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communications skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in the teaching field and prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
