PBS NewsHour Weekend is a current affairs program from WNET, the leading provider of news, current affairs and documentary content for public television. PBS NewsHour Weekend is a daily news program that will focus on national and international news of the day as well as longer lead stories and issues. PBS NewsHour weekend is a 30 minute television broadcast, airing nationally on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

The Associate Producer will assist Producers in the planning and coordination of news and current affairs program segments of approximately 6 minutes in length. S/he will report to the Executive Producer and will work closely with the editorial team at all stages of the production process from story development through post-production. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to, researching and pitching stories; shooting video, developing storylines and identifying locations and characters; assisting in the production of shoots; conducting interviews, working with on-camera talent as required, fact-checking scripts; assisting in the editing and delivery of segments. In addition, s/he will liaise, as necessary, with various other departments, including publicity, production services, finance and legal.

To qualify, candidates must have a BS or BA in Liberal Arts, or equivalent work experience and a minimum of two (2) years experience in television. Candidates with experience in multimedia production, working on segments and/or experience working in a daily news environment are preferred. In addition, candidates will need exceptional research skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to write for video. The ability to shoot video or edit video using Final Cut Pro is required as well as exceptional planning, organization, problem analysis and decision-making skills, strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and to problem-solve when difficulties arise. Frequent travel will be required.

Candidates with editorial experience in print, online or broadcast journalism and/or prior experience in production of daily or weekly news/public affairs program are preferred.
