Job Summary:
Responsible for working with Senior Product Manager(s) on product strategy, product development, product requirements/specifications, project plans, product management and product marketing for EdisonLearning’s product portfolio with a strong focus School Designs, Professional Services, Tutoring, Summer School programs and Online experience is a significant plus. Support the company’s Demand Value Propositions and its alignment to customer needs and the strategic plan. Monitor and maximize performance and profitability of products.

Main Responsibilities:
Product strategy, product management, project plans, product requirements/specifications, and product marketing

Evaluate market demand, competitive landscape, industry trends, EdisonLearning strengths and vulnerabilities and academic enablers. Align EdisonLearning intellectual property to market opportunities and support the strategic plan.
Work with Senior Product Manager(s) on the development and maintenance of key product deliverables, including: positioning, UVP, features/benefits, segmentation and targeting, pricing, packaging, communications, and sales support.
Develop and leverage a deep understanding of customer preferences, market opportunities and barriers, stakeholder requirements, technical feasibility and business/ROI metrics; use these inputs to define product specifications and to develop product roadmaps, sanctioned financial models, sanctioned claims and promises, and presentations. Prioritize investment opportunities.
Synthesize data, research, business metrics, etc., into clear, compelling value propositions.
Develop intelligence tools and processes for the tracking of client satisfaction, key industry directions and competitive actions in the marketplace. Maintain database of testimony that can be referenced.
Create strategy and content to be used in EdisonLearning proposals, RFP’s and term sheets.
Develop and work with new product development teams in compliance with new product development process and in collaboration with education and operations functions.
Manage project plans, scope documents, requirements & specifications including managing resources and understanding dependencies between departments.
Create marketing communications such as print, event, digital, etc. with Content specialists and Communications department, to be used by field sales, communications, advocacy, etc.
Help to develop and participate in training and support of EdisonLearning colleagues, especially developers, to ensure they are well prepared to confidently promote the EdisonLearning portfolio.
Participate in the deal review process to ensure that proposals align with product specifications. Closely monitor the sales pipeline.
Participate in state planning process to ensure product(s) effectively align with unique state requirements.

It is expected that the role will involve considerable travel – in the vicinity of 25% of time requirements.

Key Relationships:
Internal : Develop strong cross functional relationships and credibility within EdisonLearning across all functional departments including Business Development, Marketing, Education, Finance, Technology, Site Operations, General Counsel and the Edison Executive Team to secure input for product strategy and engage stakeholders in the effective delivery of the strategy.

External : Edison customers, prospective customers, various education associations; local, state, and federal education officials; advocacy and community groups; industry analysts, etc. The purpose behind this interaction is to understand the demand landscape, facilitate consultation and data gathering then position the product strategy, gaining consensus on priorities and engaging key stakeholders to deliver on the strategy.

The ideal candidate will have previous educational product management experience with 5+ years of proven experience in strategy, research, project/product management, and various marketing roles
K-12 services experiences a major plus particularly in the School Designs, Professional Services, Tutoring, and/or Summer School Program areas
Experience in either products/services requiring complex sales
Experience with product development lifecycle
Experience writing business requirements and RFPs
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans, marketing plans, business plans, etc.
Experience with marketing communications – brochures and other collateral, events and experiences, digital and data marketing, direct response, etc.
Experience writing and analyzing market research, financial reports, and industry reports/white papers. Familiarity with data manipulation and interpretation
Experience developing beta and prototype testing
Experience of MS Office Suite
Knowledge of relevant Education legislation particularly around Title I, IDEA, Race To The Top, Stimulus Funding, Grants, etc.
Knowledge of public and charter school, professional services, tutoring, summer school environments particularly a plus
BS and MBA preferred, or equivalent experience required
