The Associate Plant Engineer will:
Implement corporate and plant projects. Provide engineering facility planning for plant expansion and renovations. Provide leadership in the implementation of the capital program by managing the activities of plant personnel, corporate groups or consultants, contractors, and vendors to achieve project goals.
Using Industrial Engineering Principles determines the most efficient installation of cost reduction and plant expansion projects including equipment selection, layout drawings, contractor procurement, safety using corporate GMP goals and appropriate codes, coordinating information from other departments, time frame scheduling, and providing estimates for other alternatives, doing the same within the project cost restraints.
Using Project Engineering Principles determines the most efficient installation of cost reduction and plant expansion projects including equipment selection, layout drawings, contractor procurement, safety using corporate GMP goals and appropriate codes, coordinating information from other departments, time frame scheduling, and providing estimates for other alternatives, doing the same within the project cost restraints.
Inter-relates with Corporate Engineering when necessary to facilitate project completion.
Accountable for completing capital projects within the established cost perimeters set and implementing operations changes.
Through constant observation and the installation of energy saving programs and ideas, seek to reduce energy usage/unit produced annually.
Using plant engineering knowledge, past plant experience and outside assistance when necessary, assist all facets of plant operations in trouble shooting operations problems and recommending solutions thereto.
Continually evaluate plant utility needs to determine adequacy thereof for present and future operating conditions and propose, when necessary, modifications of additions thereto.
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the position requires the incumbent to deal with a wide range of problems involving a wide diversification of processing, packaging, material handling, refrigeration, and electronic equipment. Frequent production line changes and limited physical space add to the complexity of the position.
Process and approve all invoices for projects.
Supply engineering input pertaining to Safety and OSHA regulations.
Coordinate design with plant personnel and present results clearly to achieve acceptance and ownership by the plant.
Manager outside engineering services and contractors as required.
Assure project is safe, meets corporate GMP goals, and appropriate codes.
In addition to the above, coordinate information from Marketing, R&D, QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing in the design and implementation of projects.
Provide conceptual plant layouts for facility planning.
With input from Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing develop plant design alternatives and participate in the selection process.
Provide capital and operating cost estimates for the alternatives to be used in evaluating the project.
Direct the activities of outside personnel in achieving all of the project and facility planning goals. Take a leadership role in Rich's Mission World Class as it relates to this position.
The single, primary accountability for the success of a project in all areas including cost, schedule, adherence to scope, performance, and reliability. Responsible to create project cost and schedule estimates and meet them through good management techniques.
Performs other Engineering duties as assigned.
What do I need to be considered a candidate?
' Four (4) years mechanical or chemical engineering degree.
' Two (2) to four (4) years experience in engineering and maintenance in chemical pharmaceutical, food and/or dairy processing. Knowledge of automated manufacturing systems, process controls, and instrumentation required. Must have experience in plant layout/facilities design, refrigeration, understanding of computer applications and be well versed in SPC's. Experience needed in working with regulatory agencies, i.e.; water, utilities, and environmental.
' Excellent communications skills, assertive and consultative management style ' willing to be a leader, capable of multiple tasks simultaneously, PC literate in spreadsheet, word processing, scheduling, and CAD. Familiarity with all engineering disciplines. Knowledgeable of plant operations. Can obtain and use information from others.
' Can coordinate people and organizations toward a common goal. Can identify and correct problems in schedule, cost, communications, and priority during projects. Can innovate management solutions to problems and implement them.
' Will be required to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, climbing, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, grasping, and balancing as part of production activities on the floor. Will be required to see and hear well enough to understand Associates questions and respond to their concerns. May be required to work in freezers, near noisy machinery, near confined spaces as part of daily production activities.
