Urban Strategies Inc. Seeking Associate Project Manager REPORTS TO: Executive Vice President JOB STATUS: Temporary LOCATION: San Antonio, TX BACKGROUND: Strategies plans and implements Human Capital building strategies in distressed urban core neighborhoods across the United States, designed to end the physical, social and economic isolation of obsolete and distressed communities by: 1) supporting mixed-income developments through comprehensive, community supports; and, 2) supporting low-income residents in the new mixed-income development in progressing toward self-sufficiency. Urban Strategies uses innovative approaches to provide families with a broad and integrated set of supports as they make the transition to new housing and to economic self-sufficiency. Urban Strategies also works with and strengthens capacity in partners to increase the human capital-building assets in a newly revitalized community.

The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) has received a Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to transform housing, people and neighborhood, with the Wheatley Courts Development at the heart of the plan. SAHA has submitted an implementation grant application to HUD to implement the Plan. Urban Strategies has been engaged to implement the People Component of the Transformation Plan and is seeking to establish a local presence by hiring an Associate Project Manager to work in San Antonio.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Associate Project Manager will provide support the Executive Vice President, other Urban Strategies team members and SAHA, in the implementation of the People Component of the Wheatley Courts Choice Neighborhoods Transformation Plan. The Associate Project Manager will support selected projects, in directing new and innovative Human Capital building programs to improve the ability of Wheatley Courts residents to become more self-sufficient, and amenities that will support residents at all income levels. The Associate Project Manager may be called on to assist with all aspects of planning and implementing projects, which may include: 1. Research, data collection, analysis, and needs assessments; 2.

With SAHA Choice Manager, assist with the development and implementation of programs proposed under Choice Neighborhoods based on data, community comment and best practices; 3. With SAHA Choice Manager, collaborate with and sustain strong relationships with local businesses, service providers, educational institutions, public agencies, and foundations; 4. With SAHA Choice Manager, act as liaison to the Eastside Promise Neighborhood Initiative; 5. Participate in development of grant applications; 6.

Engage with resident stakeholders to build and strengthen local leadership capacity; and, 7. Plan and provide staff support to appropriate meetings and resident outreach events/activities, including meeting preparation and follow-up; 8. Develop and Implement Communications Plan; 9. Begin development of case management plan for Implementation 10.

Special Projects as assigned. The Association Project Manager will also provide support to the Executive Vice President and other Executive Team members on other projects as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMETS: Position requires excellent communication and organizational skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including MS Word, Excel, Power Point and desktop publishing software; a strong interest in social service and social enterprise; willing to serve as a team player; ability to hold privileged information in a professional and confidential manner; flexibility to attend evening and weekend functions and occasional travel as required; a passion for community building and ability to share that enthusiasm with residents, staff and the larger community. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree and at least one year of work experience, preferably in the not-for profit or human services sector.
