Provides leadership and is accountable, under the direction of the Provost, for essential aspects of Campus operations, including:

  • Efforts to ensure that the full range of support programs and services is optimal in helping all students to succeed in their academic goals;
  • Empowerment of faculty and staff to create positive and innovative learning experiences
  • Management of academic and student appeals processes
  • Service as appointed Campus representative for collegewide concerns
Typical Essential Duties

  • Work under the direction of the Campus Provost in assuring effectiveness in:
o Implementing educational and academic support programs

Working with Deans, Program Directors and Academic Chairs to define, schedule, and support appropriate academic courses and programs on the Campus to meet student needs

Working with Campus and District personnel for continual improvements to the Library, Learning Support Commons, and other academic support programs

o Overseeing student support services and programs

Working with Campus and District personnel for continual improvements to processes in Admissions, Registration, Financial Assistance and all other campus-based student services areas

o Overseeing Campus support services

Working with Campus and District personnel to effectively address Facilities and Security-related campus concerns, and all other support services

o Strategic planning, development and management of budgets for areas of supervision, and serving as Campus leader in Provost’s absence

  • Management of academic and student services appeals
  • Commitment to creating Campus environment that fosters student engagement and leadership development
  • Commitment to Campus environment that encourages and enables faculty and staff to create positive and innovative learning experiences
o Assists Provost in building and supporting an effective leadership team

o Fosters a climate of open and effective communication

o Works collaboratively alongside the Provost with faculty, staff and students on mutually created goals and initiatives in support of student learning

o Organizes staff and resources for success in goal accomplishment

  • Service as appointed Campus representative for collegewide concerns
o Works collaboratively with other campus Associate Provosts to help ensure a collegewide perspective while considering and advocating for the individual needs of the Campus

  • Performs related duties as required.
Educational Requirements

Master’s Degree required; Doctorate degree preferred.

Experience Requirements*

Five (5) years professional administrative experience, at least 3 of which are in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements

General knowledge of:
  • College curricula
  • Structure of major college areas or units
  • The roles and responsibilities of student support programs in a community college/ state college

  • Technological systems as they apply to instructional, administrative, student and workplace needs
  • Sound higher education business practices for areas of supervision
Skill in:
  • Examining operations and procedures, and proposing policy, strategy and procedural improvements
  • Employee development and performance management
Strong leadership skills that:
  • Promote dedication, integrity, creativity, innovation, growth and accountability
Ability and commitment to:
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Build consensus and work with diverse Campus constituencies in support of the College’s mission
  • Nurture the growth and development of students and student leaders
