Your challenge:
The Random House Publishing Group is seeking an Associate Publisher of Nonfiction to join the Ballantine Bantam Dell team. This individual is responsible for directing aspects of the publishing program including marketing scheduling and strategy, coordination between the imprints and sales, and identifying new revenue opportunities. Ideally, the Associate Publisher will provide long-range vision and strategic planning for traditional and digital publishing. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing list of titles from acquisition through consumer marketing
  • Overseeing the execution of all sales and marketing strategies for each title on the imprints list
  • Reviewing manuscripts and executing division objectives with the art, copy, publicity, advertising and marketing departments
  • Working closely with editorial staff to develop and shape the publishing list
  • Assessing promotional opportunities via major accounts, constructing promotions and series building strategies, and interpreting results to establish meaningful best practices for selling books
  • Identifying and executing author branding digital sales initiatives through pricing, promotion, online retail partnerships, and direct consumer marketing
  • Creating strategic partnerships to maximize opportunities for content
  • Creating customized products and product partnerships
  • Developing proprietary content opportunities
Your profile:
Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of demonstrated success in book publishing. The ideal candidate is also strategic, and forward-thinking with strong management, communications, analytical and marketing skills.
