Location: San Jose, CA. Working out of remote home office.
As an Associate Sales Account Manager, you will sell engineering and scientific software and related consulting and product training services to a set of cross industry accounts located in Silicon Valley. Responsibilities will include developing relationships at existing accounts as well as identifying and developing new business. You will work closely with the Sales Team Leader, as well as local marketing teams and technical experts to bring the full range of MathWorks product and service offerings to the accounts. The candidate should have experience selling to the Computers, Semiconductor, Electronics and BioPharma industries.
Develop relationships within existing accounts and new divisions, locations, and customers
Generate new business by phone, customer visits, and events
Develop and manage a funnel of opportunities and activities
Collaborate closely with Application Engineering, Technical Marketing, and peer sales teams
Document and report sales activities using an advanced CRM tool (Siebel)
Attain monthly/quarterly/annual sales goals for new software licenses, maintenance service, and professional services (consulting and product training)
Expand MathWorks market presence and reputation within the territory
Rigorously prioritize and follow up on all qualified leads provided by Marketing or Sales Support; energetically prospect for new business opportunities within a defined set of named accounts
Prepare required sales documentation (e.g., trip reports, proposals, and territory plans)
Work closely with potential customers at all levels to understand users, requirements, and business issues
Gain access to and influence the appropriate decision makers to manage product evaluations and bring business opportunities to a successful conclusion
Qualifications Required / Preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
1-4 years direct sales experience required
Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment
Evidence of success in typical sales situations including prospecting in new groups
Self-driven personality; high energy level
Demonstrated experience balancing volume and sales priorities (opportunity management)
Demonstrated success managing a territory and using a CRM system
Experience working with application engineers and sales support resources is preferred
Strong verbal and written communications skills
