Associate Scientist-Animal Health (PART-TIME 20 HRS. PER WEEK)

JOB SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for utilizing microbiological techniques and modern biotechnology tools to support projects for the assigned business unit. Interaction with all corporate and international research staff is necessary. A highly professional manner relating to conduct, appearance and attitude will be maintained. Provide technical support for a variety of discovery research projects and product support to RD&A and our customers.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
1. Schedule, perform and summarize prioritized task, project or TSR.
2. Assist the Manager and/or other scientists in their research projects. Some projects may require literature research and/or adaptation or comparison of methods for the targeted end result.
3. Perform laboratory procedures including routine microbiological analyses and keep adequate records. Maintain CH databases and input information regularly.
4. Maintain good laboratory practices and rooms according to standard operating procedures. Establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of techniques and standard operating procedures.
5. Help manage the organization of all laboratory material and follow up with appropriate personnel.
6. Monitor lab supply inventory and order as necessary. Follow up with vendors and update inventories.
7. Provide an excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
8. Participate regularly in staff and other group meetings to share data, ideas and updates.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and works overtime as required. If required to travel for business: maintains a valid driver’s license and good personal credit, making them eligible for a credit card.
10. Travel is required 1 - 3% of the time for this position, annually.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and one to three years of related experience; or additional years of relevant education or experience may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources. Computer proficiency in Microsoft needed with SAP experience desirable. Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee is regularly required to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Employee will be required to blend formulas and perform tests using a variety of laboratory equipment.
