The Associate Strategic Research Manager will assist the Senior Manager, on corporate research at IEEE. The position exists to advise staff and volunteer leaders on the research that needs to be collected so they can make informed decisions. This individual must be knowledgeable in research methodology, sampling techniques, and statistics.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Assisting in long-term and high impact projects and managing short-term large and small research projects

Write reports that communicate important research findings to a variety of audiences

Write surveys with the understanding of the cognitive and psychological issues that go into survey design and development

Analyze and interpret data using appropriate statistical techniques

Foster relationships with external research vendors and manage research projects with these vendors including budget and each step of the research process

Assist in the development of departmental dashboards

Assist in the development of and maintenance of an IEEE overall dashboard

Conduct secondary research

Manage focus groups - online and in-person

Other duties as assigned

Use appropriate scientific methods to generate samples, understanding sampling issues, response rates, and other issues that affect the ability to generalize responses from the sample

Represent IEEE in meetings with other association and market researchers

A Bachelor’s degree in a social science field, a market research field or a statistics field; an advanced degree is preferred

He or she must have a minimum of four years of experience in primary research including sampling technique, questionnaire writing, data analysis and interpretation, and report writing

Experience managing external research vendors is a plus

Demonstrated hands-on practical knowledge of the research process and how best to apply research findings to a business/association setting

Ability and willingness to work towards future certification

He or she must be a technologically-savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges

Must have a high level of proficiency with SPSS or SAS, Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

ust keep up with the latest industry trends and be committed to being an expert in the research field
