The purpose of this position is to prepare and maintain athletic fields for league and tournament play and to work various special events in a support capacity.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs athletic field preparation and maintenance, determines size and layout of various fields, mows, trims, and weeds facilities to ensure proper playability. Inspects field lights, scoreboards and irrigation, making needed repairs. Manicures base paths and infield arcs to provide safe transition areas between clay and turf, sod damaged areas, and installs and removes soccer goals as needed.
Performs grounds maintenance utilizing various pieces of light to heavy equipment to perform routine and in-depth maintenance projects related to athletic fields, common areas, and rights-of-ways. Top dresses, fertilizes and applies chemical controls to weeds and inspects in accordance with maintenance program. Over seeds fields and performs landscape maintenance as needed. Conducts safety inspections on all facilities, buildings, restrooms and equipment, making repairs and providing litter control. Provides support for special events setup, break down and any duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalent.
Over one year up to and including three years of experience is required.
Licenses and Certificates
Valid Class “B” commercial driver's license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed.

Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information and receives immediate direction. This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.
Advanced work requires advanced skills and knowledge in approaches and systems, which affect the design and implementation of major programs and/or processes organization-wide. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities are necessary to apply technical skills effectively.
Intermediate ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Intermediate ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Basic ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or a series of numbers, names, and addresses.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as needed. Subject to “on-call/stand-by” duty.
