In-house counsel assists Management within Ochsner Health System by providing legal advice and counsel on healthcare and regulatory matter. In-house counsel supports and coordinates with operational and corporate divisions on a wide range of legal issues arising in an expanding health system and major academic medical center. Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner's "Expectations" as duties are performed on a daily basis.
Education, Experience & Training:
Juris Doctorate, current admission to practice law in Louisiana and a minimum of seven years of legal experience with fraud and abuse issues, healthcare transactions and affiliations, and general contract drafting and negotiation are required. Must possess in-depth knowledge of federal and state health care regulations and a working knowledge of issues involving Medicare and Medicaid. Prior experience working with or for an integrated healthcare delivery system desired.
The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who can demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment as well as the ability to work independently and within a team. Strong customer service orientation, outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a high level of integrity. Flexibility with regard to varied assignments and willingness to develop new areas of expertise are expected.
