This position will provide legal counsel nationally to Verizon’s Public Sector Sales group in its sales to state and local government and educational customers.

Job Responsibilities:

i. Assist in supporting sales of Verizon products and services to state government and education customers. This will focus principally on sales of Terremark services and also customer premise equipment, along with other Verizon products and services.

ii. Assist in responding to customer solicitations such as “requests for proposals, invitations to bid, and proposals submitted in response to such solicitations. Lead customer negotiations for contracts arising from proposals and other customer offers.

iii. Work closely with and/or manage experienced team of contract managers responsible for:

a. Analysis of customer requests for proposals or customer standard contracts

b. Identifying non-standard customer requests, and work with Verizon counsel and business groups to determine and document legally acceptable company positions to respond to such requests.

c. Work with business teams to address and manage contract performance disputes that may arise from time to time.

d. Identify and address compliance issues which may arise from time to time.

  • Law degree with both litigation and transactional background preferred
  • Public sector contracting experience highly desirable
  • Excellent academic performance at a highly rated law school
  • Member in good standing of bar of at least 1 state
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a nationally-recognized law firm or corporate legal department
