ParenteBeard is seeking an Audit Manager in our Central
PA Region. Working from either our York, Reading, or
Lancaster office, the Manager will support a client-base
within this region. Under the general supervision of
Senior Managers and Partners, the Managers have
oversight on all regular and special matters for those

clients delegated to them. This oversight includes:
quality control of all work; review of work papers;
preparation of all reports, statements and letters for
final acceptance by the responsible Partner; planning,
supervision and control of all phases of regular client
services; engagement staff supervision and maintenance
of client relationships. The Manager also actively
coaches and develops team members and participates in
business development activities.
Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Using established Firm policies and procedures, the
Manager is responsible for all aspects of assigned
client engagements including: documentation, supervision
of junior staff and issuance of all appropriate client
reports and letters. The Manager keeps the Senior
Manager and/or Partner informed of all important
engagement developments.
  • The Manager supervises audit staff on various segments
of an engagement. He/She reviews all files for
completeness prior to submitting them to a Senior
Manager and/or Partner for review.
  • The Manager may direct the activities of multiple
client service teams concurrently having ‘in-charge’
responsibility for larger, more complex engagements and
oversight responsibility for smaller engagements.
  • The Manager keeps the responsible Partner apprised of
each client’s project status and any potential problems.
He/She works to anticipate client issues and resolves
them when they occur. The Manager serves as a
communication conduit between the Partner and client.
  • The Manager is expected to actively participate in the
Firm’s business development efforts. He/She positively
represents the Firm at business and community functions
in order to maintain current, acquire new and expand
existing client relationships.
  • The Managers will represent the Firm through
involvement in professional, recruiting, charitable and
/or civic events and organizations.
  • The Manager will promote both their personal and the
Firm’s collective reputation through participation and
presentation at conferences and seminars and/or by the
submission of articles for inclusion in professional
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages accounting staff; is responsible for directing,
coordinating and evaluating team members. Carries out
supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
Firm’s policies and applicable laws.
Specific responsibilities include: assisting with the
hiring and termination of team members; planning
staffing levels for individual assignments; implementing
new Firm initiatives; supervising, coaching and
developing staff; providing direction, guidance and
constructive criticism, preparing and conducting
performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining
staff; addressing complaints and resolving employee

Job Requirements:
Successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years
public accounting or related experience along with a
record of progressively increasing knowledge, skill,
responsibility and independence. In addition, sound
written and verbal communication skills, an ability to
work independently or as part of a team and the capacity
to appropriately interact with all levels of Firm
management and staff, clients and other external
business contacts are required. Experience auditing
commercial (manufacturing, distribution and technology)
clients, as well as employee benefit plans a plus.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
Accounting Managers are expected to be a Certified
Public Accountant (CPA). Individuals in this position
must have demonstrated computer skills and experience
with accounting software is required. A valid driver’s
license is also required.
Working Expectations & Conditions
  • Frequent same day travel for work at clients’ offices
using a personal vehicle.
  • Frequent/Occasional out-of-town travel that may
require overnight stay for work at clients using a
personal vehicle - approximatly10-20%.
