Experienced Performance Auditor (Washington, DC)
Compensation: $72,000 - $92,000
The Office of the District of Columbia Auditor has an opening for an Auditor. The applicant will
be responsible for planning, executing and conducting performance audits. The audits/reviews
will include the following: (1) operational, program, and performance reviews; and (2) internal
control and process reviews. The applicant will be required to prepare and edit: audit work
plans, audit documentation, audit findings, briefings and performance audit reports. The
incumbent will be able to prepare well-written, objective, accurate, and timely reports that
identify issues with potential dollar savings, revenue generating opportunities, and provide sound
recommendations for improvements in an agency's operations.
Applicants must have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in governmental accounting,
performance audits, budgeting, auditing, program evaluation/analysis, and/or experience in
conducting, supervising, or managing line performance audits. Persons possessing advanced
degrees and /or professional certifications, such as: the Certified Public Accountant (CPA),
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), or
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are encouraged to apply.
Educational Requirements: Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business
administration, finance, or public administration, that included or was supplemented by 24
semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
